Description

This is a fictional Pokémon Region I made up.
I have yet to think of a name for it.
Feel free to suggest some names, I could use the help.

Can you guess where it is based off?

Yes, it is a dual region, similar to Kanto/Johto.
I'm currently playing Soul Silver, and I love that you can visit two regions. So I thought mine has to be too!

Please excuse the messy painting at the top, not quite used to it yet. I think the smaller version looks okay though :)

In order to progress North through Opal Forest, HM01 – Cut is needed.
HM01 – Cut is obtained when talking to the Pokémon trainer outside the gym.
He will say:
"Aw, man! I just lost to Boris. Here. I don't have any use for this anymore."
HM01 – Cut | Normal | Physical | Power: 50 | Accuracy: 95%
The target is cut with a scythe or a claw. It can also be used to cut down thin trees.

In order to progress North past Malachite City, HM03 – Surf is needed.
HM03 – Surf is obtained by stopping the Team Biohazard Executive.
The archaeologist exploring Enigma Ruins will say:
"Phew! I thought I was done for! Thank you chap, you deserve a reward for that."
HM03 – Surf | Water | Special | Power: 95 | Accuracy: 100%
It swamps the entire battlefield with a giant wave. It can also be used for crossing water.

In order to progress East of Andalusite Citadel, HM04 – Strength is needed.
HM04 – Strength is obtained by helping a Pokémon trainer in Peridot City find a name for her Pokémon.
She will say:
"What a cute name! It's adorable! I don't have anything to give you, but maybe this will come in handy?"
HM04 – Strength | Normal | Physical | Power: 80 | Accuracy: 100%
The target is attacked with a punch thrown at maximum power. It can also be used to move boulders.

HM02 – Fly can be obtained by participating in the Pokémon Theatre.
The Pokémon Theatre is in Peridot City.
The Stage Director will come up to you and comment on your Pokémon.
He asks if you would consider any of your Pokémon to take part in one of three productions.
After you have participated, an attendant will hand over HM02 – Fly as a present.
HM02 – Fly | Flying | Physical | Power: 90 | Accuracy: 95%
Flies up on the first turn, and then strikes the next turn. It can also be used for flying to any familiar town.

HM05 – Rock Smash is given away as an introductory prize for participating in the Central Park Pokémon Catching Contest.
HM05 – Rock Smash | Fighting | Physical | Power: 40 | Accuracy: 100%
The user attacks the foe with a shattering punch. It can also smash cracked boulders.

In order to progress South to the Frozen River, HM06 – Defog is needed.
HM06 – Defog is obtained by performing a side quest for the Pokémon Name Rater.
You will need to backtrack all the way to Amber City for his Special Parcel.
Upon giving it back to him, he will say:
"Oh! Oh, oh thank you! Thank you very much! This day cannot get any better! I will give you this in return!
You will need this if you want to go to Seraphinite City. Just teach it to one of your Pokémon!"

In order to progress East to Route 18 and 19, HM07 – Rock Climb is needed.
HM07 – Rock Climb is obtained by performing a side quest for the Pokémon Professors.
Professor Pine needs you to capture a Zeenoline
Professor Willow needs you to capture a male Zeebeest
Upon taking these two Pokémon back to the lab, they will say:
Prof. Pine: "Great! This makes it all that much easier for me, ho-ho-ho! Thank you!"
Prof. Willow: "Wow, I can tell you're a great trainer in the making. Thank you!"
whichever one is next spoken to, they will say:
"Well, as a token of your effort, why don't you take this."
HM07 – Rock Climb | Normal | Physical | Power: 90 | Accuracy: 85%
A charging attack that may also leave the foe confused. It can also be used to scale rocky walls.

In order to progress East onto Route 23, HM08 – Whirlpool is needed.
HM08 – Whirlpool is obtained by taking to the Team Biohazard grunt in Amethyst Town.
If you answer her questions correctly, she will have a change of heart, and quit Team Biohazard.
She will say:
"You know what, you're a good person. I don't know what I'm doing with my life.
One minute, I'm training to become the world's best Pokémon trainer,

In order to progress anywhere in Scorched Valley, HM09 – Freeze is needed.
HM09 – Freeze is obtained automatically.
As soon as you get to the Scorched Valley, Rival Tom will challenge you.
Once beaten, he will say:

In order to progress through the Burial Grounds, HM10 – Identify is needed.
HM10 – Identify is obtained by performing two side quests for the Gym Leader in Ametrine City.
1) He tells you his daughter is in need of a bike and he doesn't know where to get her one.
He will ask you if you could pick her one up from somewhere.
You then need to go to Hematite City and speak to the Bike Shop Manager.
He will give you the Little Girl's Bike.
After returning to Ametrine City and defeating the Gym Leader, he will ask another favour.
2) His friend lives in Tanzanite City, and his Pokémon is feeling down.
He asks you if you would bring him some Assorted Berries, which should do the trick.
After giving his Rabeaster 10 Oran Berries and a Cheri Berry, his friend is relieved.
He says:
"Wow, this is good news! You're unbelievable! Thank you so much!
Here, take this, I want you to have it."
HM10 – Identify | Psychic | Special | Power: 75 | Accuracy: 100%
Once used, moves will rarely miss. It can also be used to break barriers and force fields.
